US cable channel Cinemax is teaming with Working Title and Universal TV for a remake of the Australian blackly comic drama series “The Straits”.
The original starred Brian Cox as the head of a crime family smuggling drugs & guns into and exotic wildlife out of Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula.
Said patriarch is planning his succession, leading to a battle between his three sons as to who will take over.
“Hell on Wheels” writer/producers Tony and Joe Gayton will produce the American version, which will shift the action to the Florida Keys.
