HBO and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have announced a December 8th release date for a limited edition 4K UHD disc set of “The Sopranos: The Complete Series”.
The new box set includes all six seasons and 86 episodes of David Chase’s acclaimed series, newly remastered and housed in collectible hardcover lay-flat book packaging.
In addition, a new, never-before-seen bonus featurette with Chase is included along with the Alex Gibney-directed two-part HBO documentary “Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos”.
Hours of previously released bonus content, including behind-the-scenes featurettes and audio commentaries with cast members and producers are also included.
This marks the first 4K release for the entire series in one box set. “The Sopranos” has earned 21 Primetime Emmy Awards from 111 nominations across its run, including two wins for Outstanding Drama Series.
While many HBO shows have Blu-ray editions, only a handful have had 4K disc releases, including “Game of Thrones,” “The Last of Us,” “Chernobyl,” “Westworld,” “House of the Dragon” and “Dune: Prophecy”.
Notable shows that haven’t made the UHD jump include “The Wire,” “Deadwood,” “True Detective,” “Carnivale,” “Watchmen,” “Rome,” “Succession,” “Euphoria,” “The Leftovers,” “True Blood,” “Boardwalk Empire” or “Six Feet Under”.
