Sony’s upcoming third film in “The Smurfs” franchise is ditching the live-action elements in favor of a redesigned, all-animated film which is either a prequel or a reboot (it’s unclear right now).
The film’s director Kelly Asbury has started a production blog for the project titled The Blue Print and released early concept art of a colorful looking Smurf village.
The film is going by the moniker “Untitled Smurfs Movie” right now. Asbury confirms the new film will have a “completely different look than most any other previous version of the world famous franchise”.
