ABC’s cop drama “The Rookie” has set April 24th and May 1st air dates for the two-part event that will serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential spin-off.
The main “The Rookie” series stars Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, the oldest rookie in the LAPD. The two-parter guest stars Niecy Nash as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy.
In the episodes, Nolan enlists Clark’s help when one of her former students is suspected of terrorism following an explosion at a local power station.
Her two episodes set the stage for a potential untitled spinoff next season allowing the franchise to expand. Creator/executive producer Alexi Hawley and executive producer Terence Paul Winter penned the episodes which also guest stars Frankie Faison, Kat Foster and Felix Solis.
