“The Proud Family” Revived At Disney+

Disney+ has handed out a green light to “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” a revival of the early 2000s Disney Channel animated sitcom which is currently in production at Disney Television Animation.

Creator/executive producer Bruce W. Smith, executive producer Ralph Farquhar and co-exexutive producer Calvin Brown Jr. return to the helm of the series.

The entire original voice cast is on board too including Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez. Cedric the Entertainer also returns as Uncle Bobby Proud.

The original series, which ended in 2005, followed a 14-year-old African-American girl growing up with the help of her family and friends. The series was praised for its messages about inclusion and cultural diversity, and was the Disney Channel’s first original animated series.
