HBO Max has renewed its acclaimed and award-winning medical drama “The Pitt” for season three ahead of the second season premiere tonight.
HBO Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys announced the renewal during the season two premiere event in Los Angeles last night.
The first season debuted a year ago and subsequently won five Emmys, including best drama series, best actor (Wyle) and supporting actress (LaNasa).
In the new 15-episode season, Robby struggles with post‑COVID PTSD as he tentatively seeks mental health support. Dr. Frank Langdon returns from rehab for his first day back at the hospital. Nurse Dana Evans also returns to duty.
Most of the original season’s cast is returning, including Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Patrick Ball, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez and Gerran Howell.
Sepideh Moafi joins the cast as new attending physician Dr. Al‑Hashimi which is a new regular role. Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson and Lawrence Robinson also join.
New episodes will run weekly through April 16th.
