“The Office” Reboot/Revival In The Works

NBC

Greg Daniels, the creator of the American version of “The Office,” is reportedly set to begin development of a reboot of the popular sitcom as soon as the writer’s strike has formally ended according to Puck News.

The series original network NBC reportedly greenlit a reboot back in June once Daniels was available again and now, with the writer’s strike looking to conclude in the coming days, it’s expected the project will be announced once it’s all officially over.

Will any of the cast return, and for that matter is this a full reboot or a revival? Will it be a Peacock exclusive or will it return to its old NBC stomping grounds? Those details aren’t known yet.

The U.S. adaptation of the U.K. sitcom of the same name ran from 2005 to 2013 and focused on the employees at a paper supply company.

Steve Carell led the series as socially inept Scranton branch manager Michael Scott. Across its nine-season run, the series won five Emmys and has seen its popularity only increase ever since thanks to streaming.

The news comes as an Australian version of the series, starring Felicity Ward in the Gervais/Carrell role, is on the way.
