Today marks the annual Thanksgiving holiday in the United States and a new study has revealed which films people watch, or more specifically rewatch, on the holiday.
JustWatch, the company best known for being the site where you can track down the various streaming services that a specific film or show is available on, has released the list based on the analysis of data compiled over the last three years.
The company examined the streaming and clickout behaviour of more than 20 million JustWatch users in the U.S., and rankings are calculated using its proprietary popularity index.
Dubbed the ‘Most Rewatched Thanksgiving Movies’ list, the titles were as follows:
1. Planes, Trains and Automobiles
2. Knives Out
3. Wicked
4. The Hunger Games
5. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
6. The Wizard of Oz
7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
8. Dutch
9. The Last Waltz
10. Addams Family Values
They say “‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’ is the unofficial definitive Thanksgiving movie”. It marks the second time the film has come up in conversation this week, as the movie was one of the notable big absentees from Variety’s recent list of the best 100 comedies of all time.
Other surprise inclusions are Ed O’Neill comedy “Dutch” (aka. “Driving Me Crazy”) which isn’t available on any streaming service presently and the 1978 concert film “The Last Waltz”.
