“The Last of Us” Season 2 Ready To Go

HBO

The second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us” is ready to go, according to the show’s co-creator and the game’s original creator Neil Druckmann.

The Naughty Dog developer boss was on location at Universal Orlando Resort to promote a Halloween Horror Nights haunted walkthrough attraction, based on the game series, opening tonight.

The attraction is based entirely on the game series, not the HBO show, but Druckmann tells EW that “there’s cool stuff in there” that could potentially hint at what’s planned for the second season of the TV series.

As for where the show’s production stands right now: “We’ve outlined all of season 2 and we’re ready to go as soon as the strike ends.”

Asked about a potential third game in the series, he smiled and said: “As far as the next game at Naughty Dog, I can’t say anything. My comms director over there will slaughter me.”

He adds his job right now involves working on the TV show, working on another game and recently giving feedback on the theme park attraction.

“The Last of Us” series quickly became one of the buzziest shows of the year, viewership growing virtually every week and drawing in HBO’s best viewership numbers in years. The TV Academy also bestowed it with 25 Emmy nominations.
