Following HBO’s series premiere of its video game adaptation “The Last of Us” last night, the premium cabler has released an ‘In the Weeks Ahead’ trailer for the series showing off what’s to come in the next few episodes as Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) make their way cross country.
In addition, the network has also released an ‘Inside the Episode’ clip talking about the making of the episode, whilst a video of the show’s opening credits sequence is also online showing off graphical representations of the fungal spread mixed with the original game’s iconic theme music.
The extended length first episode adapted around two-and-a-quarter chapters of the twelve chapters of the game, which varied in length – the mid-game ones generally running much longer than the latter ones.
The teaser shows off more of what’s to come, including the third episode that focuses on Bill (Nick Offerman) & Frank (Murray Bartlett), and the fourth episode, which will deal with at least some of the events of Pittsburgh (arguably the largest chapter of the game).
It also shows the events of ‘Left Behind’ which suggests a flashback to what happened between Ellie and Riley (Storm Reid) will be shown relatively early in the show’s run. There are also brief glimpses of Tommy, Henry and Sam, and of the town of Jackson.
What’s pointedly not shown is TV series takes on some of the latter scenes from the game, suggesting the contents here are restricted to the second through fifth or so episodes. The series contains nine episodes overall with the finale looking likely to air on March 12th.
Viewership numbers for the premiere episode should arrive relatively soon.
