“The Last of Us” Ep. 8 Promo Teases Changes

HBO

Tonight’s airing of the seventh episode of HBO’s “The Last of Us” brought with it a fairly faithful adaptation of ‘Left Behind,’ the downloadable extra content for the original game that serves as something of a standalone chapter in the story.

Exploring the backstory of Ellie’s character and her relationship with the previously mentioned ‘Riley’ (played by guest star Storm Reid), a making-of featurette about the episode was also released and can be seen below.

Following that airing, HBO has premiered the trailer for the eighth episode – the second-last episode of the season – which will adapt the entire Winter/Lakeside Resort section of the game. With it comes some visible changes to events including a more in-depth look at David’s ‘community’ from the game.

In addition the near whiteout sequence doesn’t appear to be included, though the diner confrontation scene remains fairly intact. The trailer also shows off plenty of Troy Baker, the video game acting veteran who played Joel in the original game and has a supporting role here as David’s bearded right-hand man.

The episode, titled “When We Are In Need,” comes in at 51 minutes and arrives ahead of the finale episode “Look for the Light” on March 12th which will boast a short 43-minute runtime even as it adapts the entire ‘Spring’ section of the game set around Salt Lake City.

“The Last of Us” episode 8 airs Sunday, March 5th on HBO.
