Actor, comedian and LifeAccordingToJimmy YouTube channel creator Jimmy Tatro (“Home Economics”) is in talks to star as Gorilla Grodd in the upcoming Jimmy Olsen TV series at DC Studios.
The InSneider broke the news and the trades subsequently confirmed it, but not further details were revealed and the show still has yet to receive a formal green light.
The crime-mystery-comedy anthology series follows on from James Gunn’s “Superman” films and focuses on Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen and others at the Daily Planet investigating various supervillains
The series, which has been previously rumored to be going by the titles of “DC Crime” and “American Villain,” would also serve as an introduction to several other DC Comics metahuman characters.
The show reportedly has “American Vandal” co-creators Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda on board to write, executive produce and serve as showrunners. That would partly explain Tatro’s casting, as he had a role on “American Vandal”.
Gunn and Peter Safran will executive produce the show, which will mark Gorilla Grodd’s live-action DCU debut after briefly popping up in “Creature Commandos”.
