“The Great,” “Kominsky Method” Renewed

The Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult-led period dark comedy drama “The Great” has been renewed for another ten-episode run on Hulu.

The satirical show tells the story of the rise of Catherine the Great from outsider to the longest-reigning female ruler in Russia’s history with only a few occasional facts. The show was created by “The Favourite” screenwriter Tony McNamara.

Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Sebastian de Souza, Bayo Gbadamosi and Belinda Bromilow also star in the series which has been one of the service’s top performing original comedies.

Meanwhile Netflix has renewed its award-winning Chuck Lorre-produced half-hour comedy “The Kominsky Method” for a third and final season.

Michael Douglas’ Sandy Kominsky and Alan Arkin’s Norman Newlander will return for the new run though the episode count hasn’t been revealed. It’s also not clear when production will start.

The series follows an aging former actor-turned-acting coach and his agent and friend as they navigate their later years in LA with new challenges.
