The Full “Kill Bill” Gets A 70mm Release

Miramax

Just over two decades since the original cinema runs of the two films, Quentin Tarantino’s combined “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” has been set for its first-ever nationwide theatrical release on December 5th.

The re-release will include 70mm and 35mm presentations with plans to play in all major markets. In a statement issued with the press release announcing the news, Tarantino says:

“I wrote and directed it as one movie – and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie. The best way to see ‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair‘ is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”

The film was originally conceived and filmed as a single feature, but was split into two instalments during the editing process to accommodate its epic-length four-hour-plus runtime – the two parts were ultimately released six months apart. The films grossed more than $330 million worldwide between them.

‘The Whole Bloody Affair’ removes both the cliffhanger ending from the first film and recap from the second, bringing the pair together as a single cohesive storyline. This release will also include a never-before-seen 7 1/2-minute animated sequence.

Uma Thurman stars as The Bride, a woman left for dead after her former boss and lover Bill ambushes her wedding rehearsal, shooting her in the head and stealing her unborn child. To exact her vengeance, she first must hunt down the four remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad before confronting Bill himself.

Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Gordon Liu, Michael Parks, and David Carradine co-starred.
