“The Flash” To Launch On Max Next Friday

Warner Bros. Pictures

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the Ezra Miller-led “The Flash” film, based on the DC Comics title of the same name, is set to arrive on the Max service next Friday.

The film will debut on the subscription VOD service on August 25th, approximately 70 days after its theatrical opening on June 16th. The film has also been available on PVOD.

“The Flash” has basically finished up its theatrical run, and at nine weeks stands at a worldwide gross of $268 million – with $108 million of that being domestic and $160 million being from overseas.

The film opened to $55.1 million over its first three days domestically and saw a 73% decline in the second weekend of its theatrical run from which it never really recovered.

That result is seen as a disappointment considering the film’s estimated $200 million production budget and that’s before any marketing spend.

The news also comes as the next DC title “Blue Beetle” hits cinemas today. Boasting very solid review scores, ‘Beetle’ is tracking to open in the high $20 million+ range.
