“The Flash” Targets Big Box-Office Debut

Warner Bros. Pictures

The first long-range box-office projections are out for Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC film adaptation of “The Flash”, and things are looking pretty great.

The film is being buoyed by very positive reactions out of early screenings, strong social media chatter, Father’s Day falling on the Sunday of that weekend, and excitement over Michael Keaton’s return as Batman.

As a result, Box-Office Pro reports that the film’s very early tracking suggests a domestic opening weekend debut in the $115-140 million range which would mark the second or third best DCEU debut behind only “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” ($166M) and “Man of Steel” ($116M).

Meanwhile, the studio has released a new featurette about Keaton’s return as Batman and blends footage from the trailers along with plenty of behind-the-scenes clips of Keaton on set at work in the suit.

Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past.

But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod (Michael Shannon) has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.

That is unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for.

Ultimately, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

The film also stars Ben Affleck as another version of Bruce Wayne/Batman, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, and Antje Traue also star.

“The Flash” opens in cinemas on June 16th.
