“The Flash” Film To Screen At CinemaCon

Warner Bros. Pictures

For a while now we’ve been hearing how Warner Bros. Pictures has been bullish about “The Flash” film due to rave reactions out of test screenings.

Well, the studio is now putting its money where its mouth is with THR reporting that the film will premiere in its entirety at this year’s CinemaCon event in Las Vegas in late April.

The annual convention of theater owners runs from April 24th through April 27th and will therefore show the film to a packed audience of thousands a full seven weeks or so before its theatrical release on June 16th. With the reaction bound to get out from the screening, Warners appears to be confident enough in the final product they’re not worried about the reaction getting out so early.

Last year Paramount used CinemaCon to launch “Top Gun: Maverick” which drew rave reviews from attendees ahead of the film opening weeks later and became one of the most acclaimed films of the year along with one of the biggest box office draws out of the pandemic.

Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past.

But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod (Michael Shannon) has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.

That is unless Barry can coax a very different Batman (Michael Keaton) out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian (Sasha Calle)… albeit not the one he’s looking for.

Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

The film also sees Ben Affleck’s return as Bruce Wayne along with Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, and Antje Traue.

DC Studios chief James Gunn has already seen the Andy Muschietti-directed “The Flash” and dubbed it “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made”.
