Just two weeks after the premiere of “Walker,” and several weeks before a good portion of its line-up returns, The CW has given almost all its primetime scripted series an early renewal for the 2021-2022 season.
CW Chairman Mark Pedowitz says the early renewals allow for a “strategic head start on next season” with production teams allowed to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff along with getting the network back to a more regular and stable schedule.
The CW has seen some content churn in the last year or two with long-running staples like “Arrow,” “Supernatural” and “The 100” all having ended their runs and with “Black Lightning” to close up shop during the current season.
Those getting renewals, and what season the 2021-2022 one will be, are as follows:
“All American” – Season 4
“Batwoman” – Season 3
“Charmed” – Season 4
“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” – Season 7
“Dynasty” – Season 5
“The Flash” – Season 8
“In The Dark” – Season 4
“Legacies” – Season 4
“Nancy Drew” – Season 3
“Riverdale” – Season 6
“Roswell, New Mexico” – Season 4
“Walker – Season 2
“Walker” not only scored an early second season renewal, but it has also been given an additional five episodes for its freshman run to bring up the total episode count to 18.
While the yet to premiere “Superman & Lois” hasn’t received an official second season order, its first season episode count has been expanded to fifteen.
“Stargirl” and “Pandora” are about the only ones still pending renewals, though “Stargirl” was relatively recently renewed for a second season so a third is unlikely to be ordered just yet.
