The CW has begun development of “Wonder Girl,” a DC Comics adaptation and the first Latina superhero title character of a DC series.
The series centers on Yara Flor, a Latina Dreamer who was born of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, who learns that she is Wonder Girl. With her newfound power she must fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world.
Greg Berlanti, who produces the various Arrow-verse shows for the network, is executive producing alongside “Queen of the South” executive producer/co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez.
Sarah Schechter and David Madden also executive produce the series which will take place in the same continuity as the other DC CW series like “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Superman and Lois,” “Batwoman,” “Black Lightning” and “Arrow”.
As previously reported, Berlanti and Diablo Cody are also developing “The Powerpuff Girls” as a live-action series for the network for next season.
