The CW Not Ordering More “Winchesters”

The CW

Nexstar, the new owners of The CW, has opted not to order any more episodes of two of its new high-profile shows this season – “Walker: Independence” and “The Winchesters”.

Both shows will remain at the original thirteen-episode order for their debut seasons, as will all CW freshman series for now (which likely means the same for the “Gotham Knights” series).

New network chief Dennis Miller has stressed to producers and talent that no decisions about next season have been made, so this does not mean cancellations as yet.

But with four CW scripted series ending this season, and the network undergoing a major round of layoffs earlier today, there is an understandable concern as Nexstar pushes towards unscripted and cheaper scripted programming for the network.
