The CW Loses President Mark Pedowitz

Nexstar To Acquire 75 Of The Cw

After an eleven year run as president of The CW, executive Mark Pedowitz is stepping down from his role and handing over the reins to former Nexstar board member Dennis Miller.

Pedowitz was named president of The CW in April 2011, replacing the then exiting Dawn Ostroff. He ushered in the Greg Berlanti-produced Arrow-verse of DC Comics programming, delivered hits like “Riverdale,” and kept cult hit shows like “Supernatural” on the air.

He expanded The CW’s schedule to seven nights a week, growing the network’s slate to 19 scripted originals and allowing long-running series to sign off with celebrated farewell seasons. He also signed the $1 billion output deal with Netflix which led to certain series finding success.

The move comes as local TV giant Nexstar Media Group is taking over the CW, with its acquisition of 75% stake now completed. Pedowitz’s exit is effective immediately, and the respected veteran TV executive will revive his Pine Street Entertainment company label which he was running under a deal at Warner Bros. TV.
