Julie Plec, showrunner on The CW series “The Originals,” has confirmed the “Vampire Diaries” spin-off will end after its upcoming fifth season.
The announcement comes one year after “The Vampire Diaries” announced it was wrapping up. Plec says in a statement:
“It’s both a gift and a burden to be able to control the ending of a series. Many shows are not lucky enough to have a hand in deciding when the end has come.”
Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood and Riley Voelkel co-star in the series.
