“The Crown” S6 Gets All Three Elizabeths

Netflix

As a way to pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II in the upcoming sixth and final season of “The Crown,” the makers of the series are up to something special.

According to The Sun, producers have decided to recruit all three actresses to have played the character across the series – Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton in a series of special scenes.

In addition, actress Viola Prettejohn will join them as the younger Elizabeth back when she was still a princess during World War II and before her coronation in 1953.

The series to date has earned multiple awards for its five seasons, both Foy and Colman earned Emmy Awards for their work and Staunton was nominated for a BAFTA.

However, with the passing of the real-life monarch and the show’s approach to more modern times, the most recent season was hit by controversy and mixed reviews when it arrived two months after Elizabeth died aged 96.

The sixth and final season is set to be released later this year.
