Lionsgate has announced that the entire fourth season of its hit Biblical streaming series “The Chosen,” about the life of Jesus Christ, will first play exclusively in cinemas.
Plans are for the eight-episode season to be split into three batches, each running for two weeks. Episodes 1-3 begin February 1st, episodes 4-6 follow on February 15th, and episodes 7-8 commence February 29th.
Fathom Events will handle distribution duties in the U.S. and Canada. Other distributors are being contacted to bring the episodes to cinemas in Latin America, United Kingdom, parts of Europe and Australasia.
Once that is over, the fourth season will debut across streaming platforms, apps, broadcast and cable TV. It follows on from the third season playing its first and final episodes in theaters to great success.
Previous seasons have been available on Prime Video, Peacock. Netflix and the The CW. The plans were announced Sunday night in Dallas at The Chosen Insiders Conference.
Attendees saw a teaser trailer of the new season which was able to be produced thanks to scoring a SAG-AFTRA waiver amid the ongoing actor’s strike.
