Following a flurry of fan speculation, “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke has come forward to confirm that the fourth season of the series likely won’t be the last.

Kripke posted a tweet indicating he is in Toronto, where the fourth season of the superhero-skewering satire has been shooting since August. Kripke himself is prepping to direct the season finale.

He revealed earlier that the final episode of the fourth season is titled “Assassination Run” which is being penned by Jessica Chou and David Reed.

Kripke wants to make it clear this is NOT being designed as a series finale episode: “I’m here to prep & direct the Season 4 finale. No, not the series finale, there will be more.”

There has not been any official announcement regarding a fifth season as yet, but Kripke seems fairly assured it’s going to happen.

As for a fourth season premiere date, he says: “Most importantly, S4 premieres… at some point in the future in our discernible reality”.

In other words he’s not saying, though it’s likely to premiere either in the last quarter of the year or early 2024 as past seasons have generally released 14-16 months after they commenced filming.

So far the only glimpse of the new season ha sbeen a behind-the-scenes image of Hughie (Jack Quaid) dripping in blood.
