“The Beatles” Biopics Cast All Four Wives

FX, Apple, HBO, Peacock

Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-feature film take on the four members of The Beatles has officially cast the wives of all the members of the Fab Four at the height of their success in the 1960s.

Anna Sawai (“Shogun,” “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”) will play John Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono while Saoirse Ronan (“Lady Bird,” “Little Women”) will play Paul McCartney’s wife Linda Louise Eastman (later Linda McCartney).

Joining them are Aimee Lou Wood (“The White Lotus,” “Sex Education”) as George Harrison’s wife Pattie Boyd, while Mia McKenna-Bruce (“Persuasion,” “Vampire Academy”) will play Ringo Starr’s wife Maureen Starkey.

Several were already rumored, but deals only closed this week with this announcement now formalised. Mendes said in a statement:

“Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right — and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure.”

The four movies will each take the perspective of one member of the Beatles — John Lennon (Harris Dickenson), Paul McCartney (Paul Mescal), George Harrison (Joseph Quinn) and Ringo Starr (Barry Keoghan).

It will trace the path as they climb from unknowns from Liverpool in the early 1960s to the biggest band in the world before their breakup in 1970. The projects mark the first time that the band and their descendants have given music and life rights to a theatrical feature film about them.
