Following yesterday’s report that Warner Brothers is developing a spin-off series set in the same world as Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman” film, a key new detail has emerged.
Variety’s Justin Kroll says that the show, which is currently being described as an adaptation of the “Gotham Central” comics, will “be set before when The Batman is set and dive into how Gotham became corrupt and infested with criminals.”
That definitely makes it a prequel, and not unlike what FOX’s “Gotham” has covered over its five-year run, though the enlisting of “Boardwalk Empire” creator Terrence Winter has led to speculation it could be a period piece.
Kroll also adds that he has: “no idea if [Pattinson] will make an appearance.” It’s hoped more details will be revealed at DC FanDome next month.
