“The Batman” Hasn’t Resumed Production

Despite a report in the British press that filming had already begun again sans its star, Variety reports that production on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” remains paused following the positive COVID-19 diagnosis of a key member of the production (widely reported to be Robert Pattinson).

Crew members are still doing construction work on sets and props at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, U.K., but people on the film team who were in contact with Pattinson are quarantining and contact tracing is underway.

It’s expected shooting will not re-commence until the roughly two-week quarantine period ends. It is also unclear if Pattinson has symptoms of the disease or if he is asymptomatic.

Leading figures in the U.K. film production sector indicate they continue to have absolute faith in the measures being taken to keep cast and crew safe from COVID-19 on British sets. These include stringent testing regimes allowing for rapid identification and isolation procedures to be implemented.
