“The Accountant 2” Is A Hit On Amazon

Warner Bros. Pictures

The Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal-led action sequel “The Accountant 2” has pulled in nearly 80 million viewers worldwide since its June 5th launch.

As a result, the Gavin O’Connor-directed title has officially ranked as Amazon MGM Studios’ second most-watched film of all time (covering a 28-day period).

They haven’t indicated what is #1 though it’s most likely last year’s “Road House” remake. “The Accountant 2” also took the #1 spot on Nielsen’s Movie chart during its debut week with 1.384 billion minutes streamed.

The film was released in cinemas earlier this year with an exclusive theatrical window, snagging $103.2 million worldwide though only $24.5 million of that was domestic – the rest of its major haul coming from overseas markets.

The title then landed on Prime Video at a rapid speed – coming to SVOD just 42 days after hitting cinemas. Talk of a third film has already been swirling ever since with those involved seemingly kee on the idea.

That includes first film co-star Anna Kendrick who sat out the second film but says she’d love to return with O’Connor confirming back in April they’ve had discussions.
