The “24” Movie Keeps Moving Forward

Kiefer Sutherland Open To 24 Return

Back in 2024 came reports that a film version of early 2000s TV sensation “24” was in development at 20th Century Studios.

The series famously starred Kiefer Sutherland as CTU agent Jack Bauer who played the character across eight seasons from 2001 to 2010 and reprised it for a shorter twelve-episode limited series event in 2014.

Bauer was last seen being taken into Russian custody on a Moscow-bound helicopter. In September last year, Sutherland revealed that showrunner Howard Gordon had come up with an idea Sutherland really liked and “something has been written”.

In a new interview with Variety this week, Imagine Entertainment President Justin Wilkes says things are definitely moving: “It’s a little bit informal at this point, but if you look at Russia, Ukraine, and just the theater of Europe right now, the world needs Jack Bauer.”

The comments follow on from Gordon earlier this month, telling Deadline: “It is absolutely in process, there is something we are developing.” However, it would need the approval from Disney to move forward.

“24” is currently available in its entirety on Hulu domestically and on Amazon Prime in select international territories.
