The Cannes Film Festival kicks off its 76th edition next month and this morning festival President Iris Knobloch and General Delegate Thierry Frémaux revealed most of this year’s line-up.
Amongst the slots both in and out of competition are new feature films from Martin Scorsese, Wes Anderson, Jonathan Glazer, Steve McQueen, Hirokazu Kore-Eda, Todd Haynes, James Mangold, Wim Wenders, Ken Loach, Kim Jee-Woon, Takeshi Kitano, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Catherine Breillat and Warwick Thornton.
In addition, Maiwenn’s “Jeanne du Barry” is opening the festival whilst Pedro Almodovar will also return with his second English language short “Strange Way of Life” starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal. Nineteen features are in competition along with seventeen in Un Certain Regard.
As previously reported, Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Mangold’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and at least one episode of Sam Levinson and The Weeknd’s HBO series “The Idol” will screen.
Ruben Östlund, whose film “Triangle of Sadness” took the Palme d’Or last year and scored a Best Picture Oscar nomination, serves as jury president. The festival will run from Tuesday, May 16th through Saturday, May 27th. Here’s the list:
