Just one week into filming and directors Andy & Ryan Tohill have abruptly exited the new “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” feature at Legendary Pictures.
The new film reportedly picks up directly where the 1974 Tobe Hooper-directed original let off and had begun shooting in Bulgaria last week. Deadline reports the change was made over the last 48 hours and is being put down to ‘creative differences’ after Legendary didn’t spark to the footage it saw.
As a result, they’ve already snagged a replacement – Emmy-winning director-cinematographer David Blue Garcia (“Tejano”). Garcia will reportedly be re-shooting from scratch. Cast like Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore and Moe Dunford are expected to remain in place.
Fede Alvarez, Rodolfo Sayagues, Kim Henkel, Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy are producing.
