“Mandy” and “Sea Fever” actress Olwen Fouere will play the role of Sally Hardesty in the new “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” feature being produced by Fede Alvarez.

The project is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1970s original feature, ignoring all the other iterations of the franchise. Sally Hardesty was the ‘final girl’ – the sole survivor of the original movie last seen escaping on the back of a pickup truck covered in blood and hysterically laughing.

Actress Marilyn Burns played the role in the original, but she passed away in 2014 so the role had to be recast. Alvarez says the approach is similar to what they did in the “Evil Dead” remake – very old school effects, doing everything in-camera where possible, and the use of vintage lenses.

David Blue Garcia helms the movie which stars Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore, and Moe Dunford.
