Peacock’s series adaptation of Seth MacFarlane’s two “Ted” comedy features has set some of its main cast along with its co-showrunners.
MacFarlane is officially on board to reprise the voice role of foul-mouthed, pot-smoking teddy bear Ted. He’ll also serve as executive producer, director, and co-showrunner.
Max Burkholder, Giorgia Whigham, and Scott Grimes have also been cast in the show, whilst “Modern Family” executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh have joined as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers.
The series is set in 1993 and Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed. He’s now living with his best friend – 16-year-old John Bennett who dwells in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin.
Burkholder will play John, the teenage version of Mark Wahlberg’s character from the films. In this, he’s a likeable teen who is still in his awkward phase and needs Ted’s help to navigate adolescence.
Whigham plays Blaire, a smart and liberal-minded college student living with her younger cousin John. Grimes plays John’s blustering, blue-collar Bostonian father Matty.
Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman and Jason Clark also executive produce.
