Teaser Trailer: Disney’s Live-Action “Moana”

Disney Pictures has premiered the teaser trailer for their upcoming live-action remake of the 2016 animated smash hit “Moana”.

17-year-old Australian actress Catherine Laga’aia (“The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart”) plays the title role alongside Dwayne Johnson who reprises his role as the demigod Maui

Joining them are “The Expanse” alum Frankie Adams as Moana’s mother, Sina; John Tui (“Battleship”) as Moana’s father, Chief Tui; and New Zealand acting legend Rena Owen (“Once Were Warriors”) as the revered Gramma Tala.

In Disney’s live-action adaptation, Moana answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.

Thomas Kail directs from a script by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller. Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Beau Flynn produce the film.

The live-action “Moana” movie is set to release in theaters on July 10th 2026.
