Teaser Trailer: “Bird Box Barcelona”

Netflix

Netflix has premiered a teaser trailer and set a July 14th release date for “Bird Box Barcelona,” a spin-off of Susanne Bier’s 2018 psychological horror film “Bird Box” which starred Sandra Bullock and Trevante Rhodes.

The original film sees Bullock as a woman who tries to protect herself and two children in a world in which entities have arrived that cause people who look at them to immediately go insane and commit suicide.

That film was a massive hit for Netflix, with Nielsen reporting the film was watched by nearly 26 million viewers in its first seven days of release in the United States, and a worldwide audience of more than 45 million according to the streamer itself.

For three years it held onto the position of the streamer’s most watched movie in its first 28 days of release (89 million households), until “Red Notice” knocked it out of its perch.

In early 2021 came news Alex and David Pastor, who helmed the 2020 thriller “The Occupant” and created HBO Max’s Antarctica set mystery series “The Head,” were writing a Spanish-language spin-off film. It was to be the first of several planned local-language spin-offs set within the same universe.

Now it seems to have been completed and is ready for its debut with the film going global on that July 14th date.
