Teaser: Spanish-Language “Zorro” Series

Mediawan Rights has premiered an early teaser trailer for a new Spanish-language “Zorro” TV series reboot which hails from Secuoya Studios.

The series will be released on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S., Latin America and the Iberian peninsula. It marks almost two decades since the property’s last live-action adaptation.

The story unfolds in 1834 Los Angeles with “Elite” actor Miguel Bernardeau taking on the role of Diego de la Vega. Renata Notni (“El Dragón: Return of a Warrior”) co-stars as Lolita Marquez.

Episodes are directed by Javier Quintas (“Money Heist”), Jose Luis Alegría (“Toy Boy”) and Jorge Saavedra (“Mr Smith and Mrs Wesson”) will be the opening night title at this year’s Mipcom conference next month.

Dalia Xiuhcoatl, Paco Tous, Emiliano Zurita and Joel Bosqued also star in the ten-episode series written by Carlos Portela.

John Gertz, Martínez, David Cotarelo, Sergio Pizzolante, Andy Kaplan, Angela Agudo, Jesús Torres and Glenda Pacanins executive produce. No word as yet on a potential air date anywhere.

This is not the Zorro reimagining currently in the works at Disney+ that stars Wilmer Valderrama and which is a remake of the 1950s Disney-ABC series starring Guy Williams. Nor is it the gender-swapped one The CW was developing a few years back. A future-set “Zorro’ was also in development a few years back – none of those three have made it into production so far.
