French publisher Microids (“Syberia,” “Beyond a Steel Sky”) has announced the adventure game “Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh” coming to PC PS5, PS4, XSX|S, XB1 & Switch in 2023.

Spanish developer Pendulo Studios, who previously worked with Microids on “Blacksad: Under the Skin” and “Alfred Hitchcock – Vertigo,” is crafting the game, which has released a brief teaser trailer.

The game has been in the works since early 2020 and is inspired by “Cigars of the Pharaoh,” the fourth volume in Herge’s “The Adventures of Tintin” first published from 1932-1934.

The story follows the young Belgian reporter and his dog Snowy who are travelling in Egypt when they discover a pharaoh’s tomb filled with dead famed Egyptologists and boxes of cigars.

Pursuing the mystery of these cigars, they travel across Arabia and India, and reveal the secrets of an international drug smuggling ring. The story, which gets a follow-up in “The Blue Lotus,” introduces the recurring characters of detectives Thomson and Thompson and the villain Rastapopoulos.

CEO Stephane Longeard says in a press release: “We’ll do everything in our power to pay tribute to Herge’s work and offer the fans the adaptation of their dreams.”
