TCM Plans Angela Lansbury Movie Marathon

MGM

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will reportedly host a 24-hour programming tribute next month to the career of the recently passed iconic actress Angela Lansbury.

A dedicated supporter of cinema and friend of TCM’s first host, Robert Osborne, Lansbury had a film career spanning nearly eight decades.

Films to screen during the tribute include Lansbury’s breakout role in “Gaslight,” her legendary turn in “The Manchurian Candidate,” iconic films like “National Velvet” and “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” movies such as “The Three Musketeers,” “Tenth Avenue Angel” and “If Winter comes,” and a filmed version of the Tony-winning stage musical “Sweeney Todd”.

The list does NOT include some of her more famous later works like “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” and “Death on the Nile”. Interest in Lansbury’s work has surged since her passing with “Murder, She Wrote” soaring up the watch charts on streamer Peacock.

The TCM Angela Lansbury celebration takes place on Monday, November 21st.
