Universal Pictures has moved up its “The Exorcist: Believer” by a week to October 6th in order to get out of the way of the just announced Taylor Swift concert film.

Producer Jason Blum confirmed the Swift film was directly responsible in a tweet saying: “Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23. #TaylorWins.”.

Despite only being announced a few hours ago, the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” concert film has already scored well over $10 million in pre-sales and is still climbing.

In fact, the pre-sales numbers are already at Marvel film levels and is headed towards the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” record which was $20 million in its first day of presales.

Many theaters nationwide are already sold out, and AMC and other websites reportedly experienced outages today due to the high demand.

What the Swift film will do in its opening weekend isn’t clear with the film’s marketing campaign largely fueled by social media, email and Swift herself.

Swift is a member of SAG-AFTRA, but the concert pic reportedly received a waiver to proceed and allows her to promote it. The Eras tour concert pic is set to play for several weekends after it opens on October 13th.

A sequel to “The Exorcist: Believer,” titled “The Exorcist: Deceiver,” is already set for an April 18th 2025 release.
