Taylor Sheridan To Pen All Of “Frisco King”

Paramount+

The upcoming Samuel L. Jackson-led “Tulsa King” spin-off series for the Paramount+ service has undergone a slight creative overhaul.

The Taylor Sheridan-produced series, originally to be set in New Orleans and titled “NOLA King,” is moving shop to Frisco, Texas and will now be called “Frisco King”.

Another change is the writing. The series was originally going to have Dave Erickson as showrunner, and Erickson had penned the pilot for the show with “Yellowstone” creator Sheridan only as a producer.

Then, in July last year, Erickson exited the project. Now, Sheridan will reportedly write all eight episodes of the series – just like he did on all of “Landman,” “Lioness,” “1883,” “1923” and the first seasons of “Yellowstone” and “Mayor of Kingstown”.

With “Tulsa King,” Sheridan only co-wrote the pilot. That series, starring Sylvester Stallone, was renewed for a fourth season late last year.

Jackson’s character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., was introduced in the third season of ”Tulsa King”.

No new showrunner for “Frisco King” has been named, and it’s not clear if the show will even have one. Casting is now underway ahead of filming in late March at Fort Worth, Texas where Sheridan and collaborator David C. Glasser opened a production campus last year.
