Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson has signed on to star in the Netflix TV series “Enigma Variations” based on André Aciman’s bestselling 2017 novel.
Taylor-Johnson plays a man named Paul as he embarks on a globe-trotting tour of passion and romance spanning from his childhood in Italy to his adulthood in New York.
The man is remade by his lovers who ignite and undo him over the course of ten transformative years.
It’s an intimate yet sweeping portrait of masculinity, sexuality, and modern love — and in a world of endless choices, it asks the question: will we know when we’ve found the one?
The series will be written and executive-produced by A.K. Shuman (“The Wheel of Time”) with Oliver Hermanus (“The History of Sound”) directing. Aciman, Michael Ellenberg, Lindsey Springer and Monica Levinson executive produce.
The series marks Taylor-Johnson’s first major TV project in nearly two decades with the mini-series “Nearly Famous”. He’s got multiple films comingu p including “Fuze,” “Werewulf” and “Blood on Snow”.
