Tatiana Maslany Is NOT Marvel’s “She-Hulk”?

Emmy-winning actress Tatiana Maslany had denied reports that she has been set as the star of Marvel Studios’ proposed “She-Hulk” TV series.

The report emerged at Deadline last month, the outlet also breaking the story that Kat Coiro would direct several episodes, including the pilot, of the show which is being penned by “Rick and Morty” writer Jessica Gao among others.

At the time they said it’s not clear at what stage talks were in or if she’s set a deal. However the “Orphan Black” star turned “Perry Mason” and “Destroyer” actress has flat out denied the reports to The Sudbury Star this week:

“That actually isn’t a real thing and it’s like a press release that’s gotten out of hand. It’s totally not – I’ve been connected to these things in the past and press has gotten onto it, but it’s not actually a thing, unfortunately. [laughs] Yeah, I don’t know how these things get – I don’t know, I don’t know. You know better; I have no idea.”

The original report was met with universal praise for the actress being cast as Jennifer Walters, an attorney and cousin of Bruce Banner who gets an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin which gives her Hulk-like powers but keeps her intelligence and personality intact.

Maslaney’s denial could also be a potential ‘negotiating in the press’ tactic. Actors Paul Rudd and Kumail Nanjiani had previously denied signing on for MCU movies before eventually confirming they were involved.

The series will join other Marvel shows in the works for Disney+ including “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “Loki,” “What If…?,” “WandaVision,” “Hawkeye,” “Moon Knight” and “Ms. Marvel”.
