Tartakovsky’s “Primal” Renewed For S3

Adult Swim

Genndy Tartakovsky’s critically acclaimed animated series “Primal” has officially been renewed by Adult Swim for a third season.

Announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival today, Tartakovsky revealed there are big things in store for the third season of the series, which follows a caveman who holds a friendship with an almost extinct dinosaur.

The order follows in the wake of the second season’s success last year. That run was met with plenty of love in reviews, with nearly four million viewers tuning in, and won five Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program.

Tartakovsky dubs the show: “a contagious disease that I don’t ever want to cure… every episode flows out like an unstoppable force beyond my control.”

Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, says: “When Genndy says he is not finished with Primal, our only job is to do everything possible to support that vision and give him the opportunity to tell more incredible and imaginative stories.”

Tartavosky has previously indicated the newest chapter would tackle a “brand-new world” that feels like a “natural progression” for the show.

There is currently no release window being targeted for the next season.
