After several months of searching, Marvel Studios is reportedly in negotiations with filmmaker Bassam Tariq (“Mogul Mowgli”) to direct the new “Blade” movie starring Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire hunting Daywalker.
Feige, Ali and execs reportedly met with dozens of candidates going all the way back to last Fall. Those that made the final cut met and delivered their final presentations in the last few months with Tariq’s vision ultimately winning the parties over.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour is on board to pen the script for this new take on the character memorably played by Wesley Snipes across three films in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Blade is a human-vampire hybrid whose mother was bitten and killed by a vampire during childbirth. He spends his days and nights hunting vampires. Ali was announced for the role two years ago at San Diego Comic-Con.
