Quentin Tarantino is set for his biggest on screen role since 1996’s “From Dusk Til Dawn”.

The filmmaker will join Simon Pegg, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sofia Boutella, French actor Liam Hellmann and U.S. singer Lizzy McAlpine in the new film “Only What We Carry” which recently wrapped filming in Deauville, France.

Welsh writer-director Jamie Adams (“She Is Love”) helms the project set against the windswept coast of Normandy. The project is dubbed a meditation on love, loss, and the quiet courage it takes to move forward.

Pegg plays Julian Johns, a once-formidable instructor whose former student Charlotte Levant (Boutella) returns home to face the ghosts of her past. Joining them are Julian’s old friend John Percy (Tarantino) whose sudden arrival stirs long-buried truths; Charlotte’s protective sister Josephine Chabrol (Gainsbourg); restless artist Vincent (Hellmann), and aspiring dancer Jacqueline (McAlpine) whose presence forces everyone to confront the weight of what they’ve left behind.

Charles Benoin, Liam Hellmann, and Jouri Smit produce. Tarantino’s on screen roles have mostly been either cameos or as himself for documentaries.

His role as Richie Gecko in “From Dusk till Dawn” is his only real co-lead role to date though he had a notable guest-starring role on multiple episodes of “Alias”. back in the early 2000s.
