Netflix stole the show when it came to the glut of Super Bowl film trailers this year, coming out of nowhere with a teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino-written and David Fincher-directed “The Adventures of Cliff Booth”.
Shot in the back half of last year and only wrapping less than four weeks ago, the trailer caught many by surprise in terms of releasing so much footage this early.
More interesting was what it showed – a film that genuinely does look like a hybrid of the two filmmakers’ styles. The characters and tone feel very akin to Tarantino, but the shot compositions and lighting scream present-day Fincher.
Now, a new post from DiscussingFilm’s Andrew Salazar has added some new details about the project. They claim that:
“QT [Quentin Tarantino] was on set for most, if not all, of shooting for the Cliff Booth movie btw. His high chair was next to Fincher’s, which makes the 10 movie rule feel a bit more silly.”
Along with penning the script, Tarantino is producing this ‘spiritual sequel’ to “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” which sees Brad Pitt reprising his role of Cliff alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, Corey Fogelmanis, JB Tadena, Peter Weller and Timothy Olyphant.
Netflix is expected to release the film sometime in 2026.
