Tapping Returns For “Sanctuary” Revival

Nearly eight years after it was cancelled by SyFy, Canadian fantasy series “Sanctuary” is coming back with its star Amanda Tapping set to return as Dr. Helen Magnus.

Executive producer Martin Wood and All Canadian Entertainment have closed a deal with original rights holders Beedie to buy the rights and start development on new instalments of the series which ran from 2007-2011.

The show centers on Magnus, a 157-year-old teratologist, and her team of experts who run the Sanctuary – an organization that seeks out extraordinarily powerful creatures and people, known as Abnormals, and tries to help and to learn from them while also having to contain the more dangerous ones.

The original series was filmed almost entirely using green screen and virtual CG sets and was the first television series in North America to use the RED camera exclusively.
