“Euphoria” and “Immaculate” actress has addressed recent rumors of her casting in the next James Bond film.
Following Amazon MGM Studios’ gaining creative control over the franchise, and with Denis Villeneuve set to direct the next film after finishing “Dune: Part Three,” there has been speculation about casting for the roles.
Those involved have made it clear they won’t even begin considering talent for the film until next year, but reports of Sweeney’s involvement gained traction following talk that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos wants it to happen.
In a new feature piece for Variety, Sweeney was asked if there’s any truth to the Bond rumours, to which the writer says ‘Sweeney unravels for the first and only time’ during the lengthy interview. Sweeney responded:
“I can’t. [Seven-second pause.] I don’t know. [Ten-second pause.] To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumors, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it.”
But would she be interested? She reportedly considered her answer before saying: “Depends on the script. I think I’d have more fun as James Bond.”
Asked about a potential “Anyone But You” sequel, she says: “We are always open to it. I think that when the right concept and script come to Glen [Powell] and I, we will jump in hand in hand.”
The actress also appeared at AFI Fest on the weekend and says she should wrap filming her scenes on the third season of “Euphoria” tomorrow.
