Survey: Cinemas Need To Sanitise Says Public

Businesses in the United States are gradually reopening with the White House turning over regulation enforcement and implementation to individual states. This has resulted in some, such as Texas and Georgia, allowing non-essential businesses including cinemas to re-open.

In a new survey conducted in late April via THR though, the general public has indicated they are in no rush to get back to the cinemas.

The survey indicates that only 22% of Americans would visit a cinema within the first month if a state chooses to re-open non-essential businesses early. More interesting though is that if those early openers implement seat sanitation and social distancing measures – that percentage improves to 49% and 45% respectively.

Essentially people aren’t going to go to the cinema unless the theaters themselves take it seriously and institute proper cleaning and sanitation methods.

The number rises a few points more – to 53% (sanitation) and 51% (social distancing) – if a state has passed all the White House guidelines – a multi-phase plan that takes at least six weeks.

Additionally 44% of those surveyed said they would be more likely to return if they were allowed to wear a face mask and the White House guidelines were met.
